What do I paint?

Since starting my illustration business, I’ve been fortunate to work on a range of different commissions and projects, each a wonderful opportunity to learn, practice, and discover what I’m best at.

My favourite things to paint are florals, landscapes, and buildings. As someone who loves to travel, explore new places, and spend time in nature, recreating these subjects with watercolour brings me particular joy!

But what I’m most passionate about is recreating what really matters to you. Whether this is your home, a beloved pet, a cherished family photo, or bespoke artwork for your wedding. Below are the different types of work I can offer.

Your questions answered

  • My current prices for commissioned paintings are:

    A5 Size: £55

    A4 Size: £95

    A3 Size: £175

    Prices can be dependent on size, complexity, and the time it will take to produce, which can vary a lot from painting to painting!

    If you have an idea in mind that you’d like a quote for, please drop me an email explaining what you would like, and I’ll be happy to work out a cost for you.

    I can also help with framing if required.

  • If you are ordering a commission for a particular occasion, I would advise getting in touch with me to order at least 4 weeks before you need to receive it. This allows me time to complete the work on your commission and get to you in good time.

    I may be able to work to a shorter timeframe if needed - feel free to ask if you’d like something quickly and let you know if I can do it for you!

  • If you’d like to commission a painting, please drop me an email via illustrationbykelly@gmail.com and let me know what you have in mind. I’ll need to know what size you’d like your painting to be, whether you’d like it for any particular date, and any other requirements. I’ll also need any reference photos you have.

    Once I have the above, I’ll advise the cost and how long I anticipate it will take. I’ll send you an invoice for a 50% deposit to confirm your order. Once this is received, I will schedule time for working on your commission into my calendar, in line with your desired timescale.

    I’ll let you know when I start work on it and keep you up to date on progress.

    I’ll send you a photo of the pencil sketch for your approval before I move onto adding pen, and will do the same once the pen drawing is complete before I begin painting.

    Once it’s finished I’ll send you a photo of the completed painting for you to check you’re happy with it and ask for any final tweaks you’d like made.

    I’ll send you an invoice for the remaining 50% after completion but prior to handover to you.

    Once this is received, we’ll arrange postage to your address or drop off/collection if you are local to Chippenham.

    And that’s it! I’ll communicate with you throughout, so you’re always informed on progress.

  • It really depends on the size and complexity. An A5 size painting might take around 3-5 hours, whereas a complex A4 painting could take nearer 10 hours. A3 paintings are likely to take much longer as they are double the size of A4!

  • They can be any size you like, from tiny miniature paintings to A3 size as the largest. I can also trim the paper I use to any specific size to fit your requirements.

  • Yes of course! I package commissioned paintings securely to ensure they are protected and arrive to you in perfect condition. Postage costs apply.
